Next-gen Leaders

Are Changing the World

Fast-paced Futuristic Urban Lifestyle

PALO ALTO

The entrepreneurial community in Palo Alto began when Leland and Jane Stanford transformed their farm for race horses into a great university. They named it the Leland Stanford Junior University in honor of their son who died before he could go to college. Leland is an entrepreneur himself who earned a fortune from providing tools to the miners in the Gold Rush in 1849 and who built the trans-continental railroad with three co-founders.

Silicon Valley Community

Silicon Valley is hometown of companies like Google, Facebook, Intel, and HP who lead the world in high-tech innovation. In addition, global thought leaders including Silicon Valley CEOs such as Larry Page and Sheryl Sandberg, and VCs like Vinod Khosla and Aileen Lee live here too. Those companies and leaders have been nurtured by two of the most renowned universities and medical centers in the world, Stanford University and UC Berkeley.

Stanford Campus

Stanford University was built by Leland Stanford, one of the Central Pacific Railroad’s founders and a former governor of California. The campus itself is a popular visitor attraction. Visitors could easily spend a day or longer exploring the beautiful campus.

Outdoor Activities

GELI students will walk around the Stanford campus, which is known as “the farm.” They will hike “the dish,” a lovely park with soaring hawks and rolling hills. They  will visit tide pools at the Fitzgerald Marine Preserve near Half Moon Bay. Great outdoor activities await you!

SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco has been the epicenter of entrepreneurship in California since the Gold Rush in 1849. It has continuously innovated into 21st century, attracting amazing startups to settle here.
